Expungements
If you have arrest records, police records, or court records, and were not convicted, you should strongly consider seeking an expungement. This is especially true if you are looking for a job, need credit, or hold a security clearance.
Expungements are a tool that Virginians may use in certain circumstances to remove arrest records, police records, and court records involving a criminal offense from public view. Those who have received an acquittal, a nolle prosequi, or who have had a criminal charge dismissed in some other way may be eligible for an expungement. Others who may receive an expungement include those who have received an absolute pardon from the Governor, and those who have wrongfully received a conviction on their record due to identity theft.
The process of receiving an expungement involves at minimum a few pieces of paperwork, and a well-written petition for expungement will typically involve several more. Fidelity Law Firm can assist you with filing a petition for expungement for a very reasonable rate. To start, have a copy of the relevant warrant or indictment, and contact me via one of the methods listed under the “Contact Me” page.
