Under certain circumstances, a person arrested and charged with a crime, but not convicted, can have the records of the charge and arrest removed from public view. This is especially important in southeastern Virginia, where there are a large amount of military, contractors, and civilians who can have their security clearances adversely affected by a criminal charge in their record.
